RUA 2026: Customisable 7-270 Day Self-Exclusion & the New Partial Option
From 1 February 2026, RUA introduces customisable durations from 7 to 270 days and partial self-exclusion by category (casino only or betting only). Complete guide to the new Sogei-managed system.
Gambling is only permitted for those aged 18 and over. Please gamble responsibly. All casinos mentioned in this article are regulated and licensed by ADM (formerly AAMS), the Italian authority that oversees and authorises legal online gambling in Italy. → Verify the licence on adm.gov.it
From 1 February 2026 the RUA system (Single Register of the Self-Excluded) introduces two important changes: customisable durations from 7 to 270 days and, for the first time, partial self-exclusion — the option to block only the casino while keeping sports betting active, or vice versa. Here's how the new Sogei-managed system works.
What the RUA Is and How It Works
The RUA (Single Register of the Self-Excluded) is the centralised system managed by Sogei on behalf of ADM, which lets any player self-exclude from all ADM-licensed online gambling platforms at once — there's no need to contact each individual operator separately. Registration blocks access immediately across the entire regulated Italian market.
The New Customisable Durations
Before 2026, the options were rigid: fixed temporary exclusion (30, 60 or 90 days) or permanent. From 1 February 2026, the system lets you choose any duration between 7 and 270 days:
- Minimum 7 days — for those wanting a short, targeted break.
- Customisable intermediate durations — no longer tied to 30/60/90.
- Up to 270 days — almost nine months, before the permanent level.
- Permanent exclusion — remains available as a separate option.
Partial Self-Exclusion: The Real Novelty
Until January 2026, the RUA was an "all or nothing" system: registration blocked every form of authorised gaming, without distinction. From February 2026, you can choose self-exclusion by category:
- Exclude yourself only from the casino (slots, roulette, blackjack, poker, game shows) while keeping sports betting active.
- Exclude yourself only from betting while keeping casino access active.
This granularity recognises that a problematic relationship with gambling can concern a specific category without necessarily extending to all forms of regulated entertainment.
How to Access the RUA
Access to the RUA portal requires authentication via SPID or CIE — the same digital identity systems used for Italian public services. Once authenticated, you can activate the exclusion (total or partial) choosing the desired duration. The exclusion cannot be revoked before expiry — an intentional protective constraint.
Other Responsible Gambling Tools
The RUA sits alongside other mandatory tools at ADM casinos: session timers, periodic spending reports and deposit limits that cannot be increased without a reflection period.
